The workshops will be organised in two parallel sessions discussing the following issues:
1) the relationship creativity-competitiveness in urban policies
2) the cultural production in Euro Mediterranean dialogue

The relationship creativity-competitiveness in urban policies
In the economy of knowledge cities represent more and more the “places” of value production whose competitive advantage is strongly linked to creative expression. For this reason, cities weave production and consumption of new cultural languages making them attractive for the best talents that feed the post-industrial economy. For these specific features culture and creativity have been the basis for some European cities (often in industrial decline) to start with, finding in culture the occasion of economic launch and reaching a great development. Through the analysis of case-studies, it is useful to reckon on the most appropriate ways to sustain the relation creativity-competitiveness in urban policies.

The cultural production in Euro Mediterranean
In millenniums history taught that on Mediterranean coasts goods and people travelled culturally contaminating themselves. In the last years, this tendency seems to have stopped and risks to enter into a crisis of cultural dialogue.
Culture and mostly cultural production represent the most appropriate instruments to promote exchange, knowledge and development.
The creation of nets and instruments to favour that process needs policies of support towards intercultural dialogue in the perspective of a more and more active institutional link between the two Mediterranean banks.

The discussion will be based on a wide documentation of reference and on a selection of case-studies useful to find out practices of intervention to be implemented as well in other contexts.
